Here is a common error of MSN Live Messenger: the 80072ee7 error.

We were unable to sign you into Windows Live Messenger at this time. Please try again later. Error code: 80072ee7

What you can see in the screenshot is the windows of the error 80072ee7 on an italian computer with Windows: it rapresent the error you can found when Windows Live Messenger connect to the net. A similar error with the same erorr code is given by Windows Update in Windows Vista.

Windows Live Messenger

I found a good explanation of the error 80072ee7 on the blog “Imzers.com“:

“This error occurs when you are not connected to the internet, check your internet connection and make sure it is working properly.

The most likely cause for this problem is that your firewall does not allow Messenger to access the internet. This happens often if you install a new version of Messenger. Make sure Messenger is allowed access in your firewall rules.”

An other cause of the error 80072ee7, is that there could be some problem with proxy of Messenger: to solve it, you can enter in the voice “Option” starting from the ”Tools” menu, choose the “Connection” tab, choose “Advanced Settings”, choose only TCP and remove all the signs from SOCKS and Proxy connection.

Windows Update

Some times, Microsoft, try to solve some of the problem we can have on Windows.

If during the checking of the availabilty of upgrading packet you reach the windows error 80072ee7 of Windows Update, is mandatory change or remove the static IP addresses from the Windows Update service. You can found the addresses into the file “Hosts”.

    80048820 riusciresti a risolvermi questo problema?????? utilizzo avast come antivirus, ma non so dove possa essere il firewall!!!!

    Velocemente ti direi “abbandona Avast! e passa ad AVG”.
    Ho trovato una breve guida per aggiungere MSN al Firewall di Windows, probabilmente è questo e non Avast!:

    • Click: Start >> Control Panel >> Security Center
    • Under “Manage Security Settings For” Click the Windows’s Firewall link.
    • Now click the “exceptions” tab.
    • See if MSN is listed in the exceptions, if not then click “Add Program”

    messenger è selezionato………… è quello il punto!!! ormai non so piu’ dove andare a parare………. o.0

    ho installato AVG……. TOLTO OVVIAMENTE AVAST………..
    il problema pero’ PERSISTE….. KE FACCIO????????? O.o

    Non è che hai un router ADSL che ti blocca le connessioni di MSN? Verifica che le impostazioni di “port forwarding” siano vuote o che non ci sia nulla su porte che non conosci (di solito l’unico forwarding che trovo è eMule… ). Se c’è sporcizia nella tabella di mapping, elimina tutto…

    si, ho un router in effetti, da cui mi connetto. è della tiscali

    il problema rilevato è proprio nelle porte, ma non saprei come toglierlo…..
